Eesti Metsa Abiks or EMA is an independent popular movement that grew out of widespread dissatisfaction with Estonian forestry policy.

The day of the birth of the association is considered to be 16 December 2016, when the Ministry of the Environment and the Riigikogu protested against lowering the age of spruce felling and the out-of-control clear-cutting policy.

The aim of EMA is to bring logging activities within the boundaries of a safe living environment for forest biota and to strengthen the positions of nature-friendly stakeholders to a level comparable to that of industry.

Mission

EMA speaks for those whose voice has not reached decision-makers.

The aim of EMA is to bring logging activities within the boundaries of a safe living environment for forest biota and to strengthen the positions of nature-friendly stakeholders to a level comparable to that of industry.

Vision

EMA is not against logging, but for sustainable management.

We believe that clear-cutting forest management and constantly growing logging volumes endanger Estonian forest life can be replaced by sustainable forestry.

Values

We value a common living environment and want to ensure a sustainable future for our children and the world.

Many EMA members are also parents themselves. Concern for the future is one of the key drivers for nature conservation work - contributing to the better functioning of our forests and land.
